Here are a few suggested road trips for a fall color tour in Michigan. Traverse City Late September to mid-October is prime time for fall color in the Traverse City-Northport-Frankfort area. The autumn hues blaze in a setting that includes over 250 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline beckoning you to board the schooner Manitou and cross Grand Traverse Bay. Another option is to sail over a quilt of color with a hot air balloon ride. It’s the season of the grape, too, so consider combining your color tour by visiting one of our local vineyards. Several wineries are scattered throughout the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas, and the area is served by some excellent restaurants. </figure
